FINALLY! So long the stone-aged web site and welcome the new web site

by abenedik 21. May 2012 09:43

I knew it from the beginning - the previous web site design was surely not looking like we are developing software for high end applications. It was more appropriate for some stone-age museum. No more - the new greatly looking web site is live!

The preparations for the new site were quite long.

First the new domain ab4d.com had to be acquired. Because the domain was already taken this was not an easy and cheap task. I think that I should clarify that going away from wpf-graphics.com does not mean that we will abandon the WPF. No worries, we are not affected by MS marketing departments and still believe that WPF is by far the best technology to build advanced desktop applications. Anyway the previous domain was related only to WPF. This was not very convenient for our tools that can be used for Silverlight as well. The new domain ab4d.com is technology independent and is therefore opened for any possible future. Of course we will still support and improve the current products. What is more we are preparing a new very excited product that will be still based on WPF.

Let's continue our new web site story. After the new domain was acquired we needed a new logo. I think that logo is important - it is shown in many placed and somehow subconsciously represents the idea of the company. Having high requirements for the logo, there was no way I could create it by myself. Therefore the 99designs.com was used to gather many developers that created hundreds of ideas. This process was really amazing and I think that the winning logo design is also amazing.

After that we started discussing and preparing drafts for the new web site. I see now that it is surely not easy to be a designer - creating something that customer wants when the customer is not really sure what he wants. After some going back and forth I thing we created a great web site that looks nice and is functional. Some parts are still not finished - for example the Purchase page still needs some polishing.

Enjoy the new site...

Business transfered to a new company - AB4D d.o.o.

by abenedik 6. December 2010 21:18

Today is a great day!

After almost a month of dealing with bureaucracy I am happy to announce that today I have made the final step in establishing a new company AB4D d.o.o.

Until today all the products from www.ab4d.com were developed and sold in behalf of Andrej Benedik s.p. – a legal form of a sole proprietor.

Because the business has grown, the limitations of sole proprietor legal form have become too tight. So it was time for a step forward – to establish a real company in a form of limited liability company (d.o.o.).

After registering the company, opening a new bank account, registering for Euro VAT ID, opening new accounts on PayPal and Gate2Shop, adjusting the invoices and other content on web site, today, as the final step, the production web site (www.ab4d.com) was updated. Today the company had made its first breath of air.

Thank you for all your great feedback and support. I will do my best that under the new company your satisfaction will be even bigger.

To begin with I am planning to release a new version of Reader3ds and Ab3d.PowerToys in the next week. The new libraries will make programming with 3D so easy that even your grandma could do it (without even knowing that there are heavy C++ and DirectX books).

PS:

Where did the name of the company came from?

The users of the libraries will quicky guess that it came from the names of the namespaces used in my libraries (Ab2d and Ab3d). But wait - in this case the name should be AB5D. Ah, screw math - AB4D sounds better :)

Added 13 payment options with integrating Gate2Shop services

by abenedik 28. January 2010 21:07

I have just finished with integration of Gate2Shop services into my Purchase page.

This brings 13 more payment options:

Credit Cards: Visa, Mastercard, Diners, Carta Si, American Express
Debit Card: Maestro, Solo, Switch, Visa Electron, Delta, Dankort, Carte Bleue
ClickandBuy

Gate2Shop logo

I must admit that I hear for some of them for the first time.

Anoter advantage of Gate2Shop is that users do not need to create an account on Gate2Shop to make the payment (this has to be done with PayPal).

Another change that I am proud of is that from a few days ago all the installers, that can be downloaded from my site, are now digitally signed - no more "Unknown publisher" warning when trying to install them Cool.
